TRIUMF is home to a world-class design department who contribute to the development of some of the world’s most complex projects in the research industry. 

These mechanical designers are also conceptual artists who have a very strong background in mechanics and manufacturing. The team is evaluating virtual reality equipment for training as well as a tool for collaborating amongst researchers and institutions around the world.  TRIUMF is unique because it’s able to perform rapid-prototyping and testing to turn around parts very quickly, and complete repairs in-house. 

This team has played a major role in the development of ARIEL one of the world’s only purpose-built rare isotope production facilities and the design and fabrication team is proud to be part of that.
