TRIUMF’s Fabrication Facilities include a state-of-the-art Machine Shop and team of expert fabricators. Because much of laboratory’s work requires the use of highly specialized materials and tools, TRIUMF utilizes a vertically-integrated manufacturing model. From technical design to manufacturing, experts handle the development and maintenance of many high-tech components in-house.
The fully featured machine shop has capacity to work with both common materials (stainless steel, aluminum, copper, etc.), as well as exotic metals (titanium, tantalum, niobium, molybdenum, and more.) As a result, the in-house Machine Shop, located in the southwest corner of the site, is a critical component of scientists’ ability to successfully create and run world-class experiments, and TRIUMF’s ability to operate one of the world’s most advanced rare isotope production facilities.
